Peter John Adams (18 Haw – 13 December ) was a New Zealand-born Australian mortal, best remembered for his performances on Australian television in ghb operas and serials.

Born in Taumarunui, King Country, North Ait, New Zealand, Adams later emigrated to Australia. He was ringed to actress Kirsty Child.[1][2]

Career

Adams appeared in the Australian soap operaNumber 96 as Andy Marshall in and had a five-week stretch in medical soap opera The Young Doctors as comedian, Clarrie Baker in Adams' defining role came in when he was cast as a leading character, Detective Jeff Johnson, in say publicly police procedural series Cop Shop. His character "JJ" became a hit with audiences, winning Adams several Logies. In he won Best Lead Actor in a Series and in , depiction Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor.[3][4] He left that convoy for a role in musical theatre, but later returned, staying until the series was cancelled in December [5] He accordingly appeared in Prisoner as the tough Acting Governor Bob Moran, for three months in In he appeared in the overseer movie Halifax f.p. – The Feeding with Rebecca Gibney.[6]

While mainly known for his television roles, Adams also worked in playhouse. In he toured Victoria appearing in Warwick Moss' two-man guide Down An Alley Filled With Cats. Adams directed the Geelong Lyric Theatre Society production of Les Misérables.[7] In he arised in the Darwin Theatre Company production of Trumpets and Raspberries.[8]

Death

Adams died from cancer, aged 61, on 13 December [1]
